Individual Support helps newcomers who get stuck in the system. What does it take to feel at home as a newcomer? And what actions can achieve a breakthrough in this in the short term?
In the May 2023 webinar, we will focus on "the in-between group:" those people who were integrating under the old Act and could and wanted to participate, but got stuck in the system. But the methodology can be applied by professionals and volunteers to other groups as well:
- People from Ukraine looking for work that matches their work experience and future aspirations.
- People in an (emergency) shelter where there is a need to make connections with local residents and build a community with the neighborhood.
- People who have been out of the picture for a long time and are difficult to guide to work or participation because there may be other problems, around health, for example.
Lessons and methodology
The webinar includes two panel discussions.
Panel 1 is about the lessons and breakthroughs during the action research in Breda, focused on access to health care.
Panel 2 is about the current bottlenecks that professionals experience and that people now face under the old law and in municipalities.
In between, we talk in detail about our working method, methodology and the core elements of our Individual Support. In doing so, we give attention to the question: how can you add these elements to your daily work practice?
Want to know more?
Are you interested in our methodology, do you have questions about it or do you see opportunities to work together? For example in the form of:
- Training | Following or organizing a training for your team on one of the core elements of the methodology. For example our training course "The Good Conversation," a training for setting up a perspective plan, or guided sessions in which experiences from daily practice are converted into knowledge through role-play or intervision.
- Individual Support | Our Individual Support team provides individual support and perspective to individual newcomers or a particular group of newcomers who are currently stuck in the system and/or need extra attention within the municipality or region.
- Individual Support + Action Research | In addition to supporting individual newcomers or a particular group of newcomers, we also offer advice for the larger group based on the knowledge we collect.
We like to talk with you further and always do so from the idea of mutual learning. After all, we'd also like to hear from you about your experiences and best practices. You can reach our Individual Support Team by emailing us at sandrine@openembassy.nl or by calling or emailing +31 638 000 346.
