The 2021 Integration Act has been in place for over two years. But how do those undergoing integration themselves experience this new system? What works well, and where are there still obstacles? On February 20, 2025, OpenEmbassy, Regioplan, and BMC are organizing the Online Knowledge Session Perspective on Integrationto share insights and recommendations from the latest report.
This allows policymakers, civil servants, and professionals to gain a better understanding of what is happening in the field of civic integration and integration.
Why is this Knowledge Session interesting?
The second report on the perspective of integration program participants, commissioned by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment, offers valuable insights from both quantitative and qualitative data. More than 4,000 integration program participants shared their experiences through surveys, supplemented by in-depth interviews.
We looked at various aspects of the integration process, such as:
- The speed at which people can get started.
- How well municipalities offer customized services.
- The quality of the lessons.
- How to combine integration with work or other obligations.
What is the outcome? There are many positive developments, such as more customized services and personal guidance. However, challenges remain, such as long waiting times and stressful processes. Municipalities play a key role in this: good support and clear communication truly make a difference.
