For residents of the Municipality of Almere who have difficulty reading and understanding information, the (digital) services are not always equally accessible or clear. This applies specifically to newcomers. For example, in contact with the municipality via the website, letters, telephone or counter. How can you as a municipality make this information accessible, so that newcomers can participate and their self-reliance is increased?

Civic integration (digital) services municipality insights

For Rekenkamer Almere, we conducted research on the (digital) services of the Municipality of Almere to newcomers. The request was to test the service with newcomers and report what works and what does not work well. Based on this, we made recommendations on how the municipality could improve its services.

This study used the expert pool methodology. This is a qualitative research method developed by OpenEmbassy to collect newcomers' own experiences. Using the expert pool, we collected the experiences of newcomers who integrate in Almere, about their first contact with the municipality through various channels. In addition, participants were given the opportunity to provide feedback on service delivery.
