With Meedoen Samendoen, Afdeling Buitengewone Zaken (A/BZ) and OpenEmbassy are joining forces. For the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) we are working on a social design to promote the participation of residents in asylum seekers' centers.
How can people participate early
We know that residents in asylum centers want to participate in the Netherlands by getting to know people, doing activities, learning the language and working. Ultimately, this contributes to smooth and full integration. Of course, participation goes both ways, so how do we ensure that people can really participate at an early stage?
That question starts from the wishes of newcomers themselves. What do people want to do in the Netherlands? And what are the obstacles and opportunities that newcomers encounter in reception? And how do we involve the outside world in the asylum seekers' center in order to facilitate encounters and create opportunities for participation?
Social design process for all Meedoen counters
With a social design, we explore ways to promote participation of residents in asylum centers. What does this collaborative process of Meedoen Samendoen look like?
In this draft project of Doing Together:
- Focuses on the experience of newcomers.
- Involve the (residential) environment of asylum centers.
- Design an approach that COA can roll out at all Participation Desks.
Survey for newcomers
The experience of people who live or lived in the asylum seekers' center is the most important basis for improving COA's approach. That is why we are conducting a survey in the project Meedoen Samendoen.
Do you work with newcomers? Then you can help us right now by sharing the link to the survey Meedoen Samendoen! Please share it with newcomers who are living or have lived in reception.
The Doing Together project is supported by the European Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF).
