Who knows better how to find your way in a country as a newcomer than those who have gone before you? Such a person is called a key person: a refugee himself (once), seen in his own community. Someone with a lot of knowledge and experience, who knows how things work in the Netherlands.
With the introduction of the new Integration Act, the role of key persons may structurally increase. And that's great, because many newcomers benefit greatly from key persons, and municipalities and civil society organizations enjoy working with them.
Key persons are active in many places in the Netherlands. In the cooperation we see many questions among the client and the key person. What exactly does working together with key persons deliver? What is the best way to organize this? What can you expect from each other? Is key person an unpaid role or just a regular job? And what is your future perspective if you are a key person?
Pharos and OpenEmbassy are organizing a national Make Session on January 30 in Utrecht in search of answers to all these questions. For and with key people, municipal officials from policy maker to client manager, and furthermore anyone who wants to discover and use the added value of key people.
The goal: to network, learn and together develop concrete answers and solutions to the above issues.

About Make Sessions:
During Maaksessies we kill two birds with one stone: participants learn from each other and design solutions to urgent issues from their own practice. In Maaksessies, the perspectives of newcomers and professionals meet so that the initiatives devised there work well for both. Make Sessions work well to stimulate local and regional cooperation and quickly move from good intentions to concrete actionsWho knows better how to find your way in a country as a newcomer than those who came before you?
