monitoring tools for civil society organizations

Project description

In collaboration with NewBees, we support the establishment of monitoring and evaluation systems for social organizations. Based on the Indicators of Integration Framework, they can steer their social mission in an evidence-based manner.

Advantages of monitoring with a fixed framework

The results help civil society organizations to adjust their own tasks. As more civil society organizations start monitoring based on the Indicators of Integration, similar monitoring also brings the following benefits:

  • Organizations can learn more from each other and exchange insights.
  • Organizations can join forces in advocacy.
  • Organizations can account for results to funds.

In the first phase of this process, OpenEmbassy has created a monitoring tool OpenEmbassy four organizations that they can implement themselves. We are also investigating how we can monitor and evaluate our own work. At the same time, NewBees is implementing a client tracking system for organizations that need it.

Results & insights

A monitoring and evaluation tool has now been implemented at the following social organizations:

  • Refugee Company: various surveys for participants in programs, including a dashboard with results.
  • Taaly: Question bank for both newcomers and language buddies + programming for focus groups.
  • URC: intake survey and semi-annual survey for newcomers working at URC.
  • BOOST: online survey including dashboard with results.
  • WelcomeApp: Question database for users in the app
  • NewBees: improvement of existing questionnaire + programming and implementation of focus groups.
  • UAF: to be determined

Development of standard monitoring and evaluation

In the first phase of the process, we gathered initial insights to work on a standard for monitoring and evaluating social organizations that work with newcomers. This provides us with more and more information to work on a platform to scale this approach and make it accessible to all social organizations that work with newcomers in order to focus on the experiences of newcomers.

Social Enterprise NL has highlighted its collaboration with Taaly.
