On March 25, OpenEmbassy organized OpenEmbassy bridge activity for newcomers who participated in the MAP program. MAP stands for 'Module Arbeidsmarkt en Participatie' (Labor Market and Participation Module) and is an important part of the integration process in the Netherlands. By organizing the bridge activity, OpenEmbassy aims to help OpenEmbassy make the transition from their integration process to active participation in Dutch society and the labor market. It bridges the gap between theory (such as the MAP module) and practice (such as applying for jobs and networking). The day therefore helped newcomers to better understand the Dutch labor market and prepare for it.
Workshops & Activities
Last week, nearly 80 participants attended various workshops on topics such as writing a good resume, understanding cultural differences in the workplace, how to use your foreign education in the Netherlands, and the importance of a strong network. In addition, there was an activity market where participants could visit different tables:
- Help with writing a CV
- Help with creating a LinkedIn account
- Have a professional photo taken
- Practice a job interview
- Information from the Chamber of Commerce
- Information from Homeschooling Buddies
The atmosphere was open and supportive. Thanks to the presence of interpreters, everyone was able to actively participate and ask questions. Participants received lots of practical tips and information that they can immediately use in their job search. What made this day extra special was how people helped each other and shared experiences. This made for not only an educational day, but also a very enjoyable one.
Thanks to all the volunteers and organizations who contributed to the success of this wonderful gathering!
