The reception of people from Ukraine, as well as examples from abroad, show that we in the Netherlands can steer much more effectively toward integrating newcomers as quickly as possible.
Evidence-based integration policy - Five solution directions
The current policy is an expensive choice; not only are we wasting people's talent and happiness, we are unnecessarily wasting public money on policies that are ineffective and inefficient. It can be done differently, and we are happy to show it.
Based on our data collection and research, we make 5 proposals for evidence-based and effective integration policies. With the aim of ensuring that people who are allowed to stay in the Netherlands can actually contribute to their new homeland as quickly as possible. As far as we are concerned, this win-win situation deserves a place in the election programs of political parties.
Integration Policy Position Paper
Because of the elections, we sent our Position Paper for an evidence-based integration policy to the program committees of political parties and the MPs who are spokespersons on this topic for SWZ and JenV.
In it, we provide 5 solution directions:
- Let newcomers participate from day one.
- Newcomers themselves know best what they need.
- Steer for policies that allow newcomers to access society and the labor market as quickly as possible, and do this together with newcomers.
- Newcomer is newcomer. The reason you are new does not determine the previous 3 principles.
- Make choices for clear migration policies and develop effective newcomer policies.
