Perspective of Ukrainian youth
Strengthening well-being and future prospects
How do Ukrainian youth in the Netherlands experience their mental well-being? And what do they need to strengthen their well-being and future prospects? Commissioned by the Ministry of Asylum and Migration, OpenEmbassy investigated this together with LOOP.
The research shows how mental health is linked to daily living conditions. Using the OpenEmbassy expert pool methodology, we mapped the experiences and needs of young people. In addition, young people were able to contribute ideas and co-design solutions.
Young people advocate, among other things, for more opportunities to meet peers, accessible information about mental health, and more privacy at reception centers. They also emphasize the importance of better preconditions for education, language, and participation. A central finding is that young people not only want to receive support but also want to actively contribute to finding solutions that affect their lives. The insights have been translated into concrete starting points for policy and practice.
